About This Quote

I read more then I ever was able to read again until now when I am too old to work much and am mostly alone. Losing my father at a young age, even though I was only 10 years old, my mother didn’t have the time to teach me how to read. My mother had her hands full caring for my younger siblings and anything extra she needed to do she didn’t have time for that. Time was also very limited because my father was often in jail for being in possession of drugs.

This meant I didn’t have any other child-readers at home so books became a dependable pleasure. As I got older, I began to read more so I could understand what was happening in school and what was happening in the world. That is why books are still my favorite thing to do.
